No-exam life insurance
Who gets approved quickly, the process, and what happens if you don't meet the criteria.
A large number of carriers now provide accelerated underwriting: for applicants in certain age and amount windows, they approve or deny using the application form, prescription database, driving history and related data instead of ordering a paramedical visit. Some approvals arrive the same day. Your quotes here specify whether an exam is required, conditionally required, or not needed for each product.
What it changes
Skipping an exam does not skip underwriting itself. Your responses are checked, and any policy issued based on incomplete or false information is open to challenge for its first two years. If the carrier's records uncover something that needs clarifying, you may still be asked for an exam or lab results; you'll decide at that point whether to continue.
Who tends to qualify
Candidates under roughly 60 applying for amounts within the carrier's accelerated approval limit, with no significant health history and no tobacco in the past year or longer. If your most recent doctor visit included blood work, some carriers will use those results instead of requiring a new exam.
Should you need an exam, it's usually a 20- to 30-minute appointment with a paramedical professional at a place convenient for you—your home or workplace in the Delano region—at no charge. For healthy applicants, a good exam result can actually improve your rate, so an exam is not automatically bad news.
